While the MP900/900C has a standard size headphone jack for stereo music, the older MIPS Mobilepros only have hi-fidelity output in monoaural. The output connector is not standard size either...it is smaller. You can plug in some cellphone headsets and hear audio that way, but the quality is very poor.
Yet you can listen to hifi music just fine using your standard headphones with a simple adapter. Here is how you do it:
First you need a 1/8" adapter to plug your stereophonic headphones into, and then a 3/32" phone plug to plug into the Mobilepro. I purchased both at Radio Shack and spent $7 for the pair.
On the phone jack, solder the common lead to the ground, and the active leads in parallel to the other wire. You are essentially feeding both left and right ears into a common signal since there is no stereo separation on the older Mobilepros.
